Concurrent High School Students

What is a Concurrent Student?

A concurrent student is a high school student who is enrolled in an adult education program.   Often concurrent students are enrolled to take advantage of the career and technical education offered by Twin Rivers Adult School, or to make-up classes they failed (this is called credit recovery).

What are the Rules about Concurrent Students?

According to California Ed Code, and Twin Rivers Board Policies:

  1. Concurrent enrollment must be for sound educational purposes.
  2. Classes shall supplement and not supplant the regular high school curriculum.
  3. Before enrolling in an adult education class, the high school student shall complete a counseling session that includes his/her parent/guardian and a certificated representative (counselor or teacher) of the high school.
  4. Adults have first priority for enrollment in any adult education class, provided they enroll during the regular enrollment period
