Twin Rivers Unified School District Board Policies
Twin Rivers Adult School follows the board policies of Twin Rivers Unified School District. Students that are working to receive their High School Diploma from Twin Rivers Adult School, are subject to the same high school policies as other high school students in the district. Students who are studying to attempt to pass the GED or CHSPE, are not considered high school students, although must still abide by general policies of the district.
Transfering High School Credits to Twin Rivers Adult School
Twin Rivers Adult School accepts the transfer of secondary (high school) courses where a student received grades of D- or above. Students who failed a course will not have those classes transferred to Twin Rivers Adult School, and thus those courses will not be included in the student's GPA with Twin Rivers Adult School.
Students must request from the high school(s) and adult school(s) they attended previously all transcripts of grades. These must either be faxed directly to Twin Rivers Adult School from the other school or be officially sealed in an envelope.
Co-Enrollment Rules for High School Completion and Postsecondary Career Technical Education
By Federal Regulations, students who are enrolled in classes that directly earn credit towards their high school diploma, may not receive a Pell Grant while taking these classes. These rules do not apply to students who are only studying to take the GED or CHSPE.
Students who are enrolled in a postsecondary (Pell Approved) Career Technical Education (CTE) Program on an Ability to Benefit basis, and receiving a tuition deferment for at least the first 225 hours of the program, may take high school completion courses until they qualify for a Pell Grant.
Students who complete a CTE program may be able to apply the credits they earn towards their high school diploma, in a similar manner as a student who take college courses can apply credit to their diploma.
For more information about these options, students should talk with their adult school counselor.
Witholding Grades and Transcripts
According to California Education Code 48904 a student who owes money to us or another school may have their grades withheld, and if another public school requests that we withhold grades because a student owes money, we must honor their request.
